So what is this?
Over the course of several past Hackathons - most recently Hackathon X - there have been research and efforts put into setting up a Veracode radio station. We did a trial run for Hackathon (this one goes to) 11, and despite some technical difficulties, it was immensely popular, so we're back again!
You know the monsters are retired, right?
Yes - and retirement gives one lots of free time to take up new hobbies and learn new skills - like DJing!
Awesome! Can I run a show?
Of course - go back to the main page and click on any timeslot that says 'Sign up for this timeslot!' to be taken to the sign-up form. Right now, sign-ups are limited to per user, but this might increase depending on demand.
What format does my playlist have to be in?
Right now, we have three different options for sharing a show: File uploads are limited to 150mb total per playlist - sorry, we don't have space for lossless audio. If you have a different format you'd like us to support, feel free to ask us! It may be possible to add more.
Do I have to be around during my timeslot?
Nope! One of the benefits of technology - it'll start everything playing for you.
Does my playlist have to be rock, or can it be some other genre?
While the Hackathon theme is rock'n'roll-centric, we're light on music restrictions around here - as long as it wouldn't get blacklisted on commerical radio for content, you're good.
Can I use my own audio player to listen in?
Sure, if it supports audio streams! Point it at http://radio.veracode.io:8000/veraradio. Icecast has a partial list of media players known to work with Icecast-based streams.
